Method
Semi-quantitative culture techniques: Bacterial culture, aerobic, which includes routine isolation and identification procedures. Antibiotic susceptibility testing is performed when appropriate.

Specimen container must contain Patient Name, Date of Birth and Collection Date and Time. Please indicate source/site. If culture is positive, identification and susceptibility (if appropriate) will be performed at an additional charge.

Clinical Utility
By plating specimens onto selective media, it is possible to identify the etiologic agents of urinary tract infections, which includes urethritis, cystitis, the urethral syndrome, and pyelonephritis.
