Clinical Utility
The Gram stain is used to differentiate gram –negative bacteria from gram-positive bacteria and at the same time determining morphology of the bacteria. The bacterial cell wall composition is the key to the Gram stain method and differentiates the two bacterial groups based on cell color after staining.
