Instructions/Notes
8 hour fasting required before collection. SST and/or lithium heparin tubes must be spun down within 30 minutes of collection. Plasma or serum samples without preservative (NaF) should be separated from the cells or clot within 30 minutes of being drawn. Due to glycosis, when blood is drawn and permitted to stand uncentrifuged at room temperature, the average decrease in serum glucose is ~7 %.
