Method
Bacterial culture, aerobic, which includes routine isolation and identification procedures. Antibiotic susceptibility testing is performed when appropriate.
Clinical Utility
By plating specimens from patients with clinical symptoms onto selective media, it is possible to identify the etiologic causes of infections.
